Within the PIONEER Alliance meeting, a workshop on Natural Disasters and Disaster Risk Reduction brought together perspectives across the resilience value chain, including risk assessment and modelling (BFH), adaptation and spatial resilience planning (IUAV), and early warning and response tools (ISCTE). Participants worked in thematic groups addressing key questions on scaling initiatives to the European level, enhancing research and education collaboration, and strengthening cooperation among regional innovation ecosystem stakeholders from academia, industry, public authorities, and civil society.
The RETIME project, coordinated by ISTAR-Iscte, was presented by Catarina Ferreira da Silva, was presented as a case study illustrating how regional innovation ecosystems can be better connected across Europe. The 3rd Governance Meeting reaffirmed the importance of transnational cooperation in advancing resilience and disaster risk reduction across Europe, while also highlighting the value of knowledge exchange through initiatives such as RETIME.
