On 9 June 2026, RETIME will contribute to the New European Bauhaus (NEB) Satellite Event “Co-creating Green & Climate Resilient Cities” in Delft, The Netherlands, bringing its experience in strategic public engagement and local empowerment to the discussion on shaping more resilient and inclusive urban futures.

As Europe accelerates efforts to adapt cities to climate change while ensuring social inclusion and quality of life, the RETIME project will join leading European initiatives at the New European Bauhaus (NEB) Satellite Event “Co-creating Green & Climate Resilient Cities”, taking place on 9 June 2026 at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), The Netherlands.

Organised by the Minority Report Project with contributions from RETIME, MULTICARE, MULTICLIMACT, CLIMRES, CARMINE, MAIA, and GreenInCities, the event will convene local authorities, urban planners, architects, researchers, civil society representatives, students, and members of the NEB community to exchange approaches for building climate-ready urban environments.

Within this context, RETIME will contribute its perspective on how communication, stakeholder engagement, and local empowerment can strengthen resilience planning and support more inclusive climate adaptation processes.

Representing RETIME during Session 1 – Co-creation for Inclusive and Climate-Ready Neighbourhoods, Eylul Aksekili will deliver the contribution:

“Supporting public strategic engagement through targeted communication and local empowerment.”

The session will explore how participatory approaches can move beyond consultation to actively empower citizens and vulnerable groups in shaping resilient urban futures. RETIME’s contribution will highlight the importance of designing engagement strategies that are locally rooted, context-sensitive, and capable of translating climate knowledge into meaningful action.

Through its work across European pilot territories, RETIME promotes collaborative resilience-building by combining stakeholder engagement, co-design approaches, and practical adaptation pathways that support communities and decision-makers in responding to climate-related risks. The project recognises that resilient cities are not created through infrastructure alone, but through inclusive processes that place people at the centre of transformation.

The event programme is structured around three interconnected themes: co-creation and inclusion, place-based resilience strategies, and tools and technologies for future-proof urban transformation. Together, these discussions reflect the core principles of the New European Bauhaus  sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusion  while demonstrating how research and innovation can contribute to more liveable and adaptive cities.

Participants will also have the opportunity to visit The Green Village at TU Delft, an open-air living laboratory dedicated to testing sustainable and climate-adaptive solutions in real-life environments.

The NEB Satellite Event offers an important opportunity for RETIME to exchange experiences with fellow projects and stakeholders, strengthen cross-project collaboration, and contribute to the growing European dialogue on people-centred resilience and climate adaptation.
